MART, museum of modern and contemporary art of Trento and Rovereto is one of the most important European museums. Born in 1987 as a functional body of the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Mart now operates in three different places: in Rovereto with the headquarter of the Museum (a large architectural complex opened in 2002 and designed by Mario Botta and Giulio Andreolli) and Casa Depero, and in Trento with the Galleria Civica Trento.
Since its founding in December 2011, the Mart has been directed by Gabriella Belli. Since February 2012 and for three years, the management has been entrusted to Christian Collu. Starting in June 2015, the Mart is directed by Gianfranco Maraniello, appointed by the Board with a five-year term.
Oltre a produrre mostre, eventi e laboratori, ospita artisti, curatori, aziende, eventi internazionali e locali proponendosi come meta accogliente e accessibile.

The Mart is now a European exhibition center, a point of contact for the major international museums, a point of listening and dialogue for the surrounding area and a complex machine that produces continuous incentives for the public, artists, collectors, businesses and communities locals.
The numerous masterpieces in the collections of the Museum, the rare materials kept in the archives and the constant work on the quality of scientific proposals allowed the Mart to consolidate collaborations with Italian and foreign museums and institutions with which they are constants loans and exchanges. Mart publishes an Annual Report designed to describe and measure in a clear, concise and accessible its business, results, strategies and resources.
